What can be donated for reuse?

Only items in good, reusable condition

We are a professional reuse charity — we only accept items we can reuse or resell.

If you wouldn’t buy it, please don’t donate it.

We do not accept:

  • Broken, damaged or incomplete items

  • Dirty or heavily worn goods

  • Items needing repair or cleaning

  • Low-quality or unsellable items

Important please read before bringing donations

  • Donations are subject to space and staffing

  • We may refuse items at the door

  • We may stop accepting donations at any time

This helps us keep the shop safe, organised and focused on quality reuse.

Furniture & large items

Must be approved in advance.

Please email photos before bringing anything in.

We cannot accept:

  • Items without fire labels (where required)

  • Damaged or heavily worn furniture

  • Anything needing repair

Small electrical items

We only accept:

  • Kettles

  • Toasters

  • Microwaves

  • Lamps

Items must be:

  • Fully working

  • Clean and complete

We do not accept:

  • Any other small electricals

  • Faulty or damaged items

  • Anything needing repair

We do not repair items.

White Goods/Large Electricals

Working fridges, freezers and Fridge-freezers (under 10 years old) - we test these fully to ensure your safety.

We will be launching a new White Goods Testing scheme shortly and will then be looking for donations of working washing machines, tumble driers, dish-washers and free standing electric cookers. They will need to be under 10 years old and in reasonable condition and working order.

Items we DO accept

  • Clothing (clean, wearable – no rags, no underwear)

  • Shoes & accessories

  • Toys, games & puzzles (complete)

  • Books, DVDs, CDs, records

  • Kitchenware (no glasses, mugs, cutlery or broken items)

  • Homeware & decorative items

  • Tools, gardening & DIY equipment

  • Sports equipment and Bicycles

  • Selected furniture (pre-approved)

  • Approved electricals (see above)

Items we DO NOT accept

  • Broken or damaged goods

  • Items needing repair

  • Duvets or pillows (unless new)

  • Car seats or bike helmets

  • Poor quality or heavily worn items

DO NOT LEAVE ITEMS OUTSIDE

We have CCTV in operation.

Items left outside will be treated as fly-tipping & reported.

Please check we are accepting donations before bringing items to WVC.

We collect furniture within Hereford: please email photos and your location to contactus@herefordreuseandrecycle.org.uk & we will let you know if we can take it. We particularly need single and double beds, chests of drawers, small wardrobes, two seater sofas and small dining sets to help our rehoming projects. All upholstered furniture must be free of stains and tears and must have the fire safety certificates intact.

GIFT AID

We can now claim Gift Aid which is really valuable in supporting our work - we can claim an extra 25% from HMRC on your donations and would be really grateful if you would please sign up to Gift Aid at this link. For now we are only applying Gift Aid to Furniture Donations.
